Marietta's Carraher and Pagenhardt named Academic All-OAC
Pagenhardt a unanimous selection

March 11, 2008
AUSTINTOWN, Ohio — The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) released its 2008 Women’s Basketball Academic All-OAC award winners Tuesday (March 11) morning, and Marietta College senior Justine Pagenhardt (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) and junior Amanda Carraher (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson) were both named Academic All-OAC.

Pagenhardt led the team and finished second in the OAC in scoring, averaging 17.0 points. She also contributed 4.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 0.8 steals per game in 2007-08. Pagenhardt finished her career fourth all-time in scoring with 1,454 points and as the career leader in three-point field goal attempts with 380.

The four-year letterwinner, who was a unanimous choice, is now a three-time Academic All-OAC selection, having received the honor in each of the last three years. Pagenhardt was also named a third team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America selection and received All-OAC honorable mention in 2008.

The biology major entered her final semester at Marietta with a 3.92 cumulative grade point average. Pagenhardt is also the secretary for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She plans to attend medical school to pursue her goal of becoming a physician.

Carraher was the Pioneers’ second leading scorer this season, averaging 12.4 points. She also led the squad in three-point shooting, finishing 70-of-192 (.365), and added 2.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. Her three-point field goal attempts and conversions were both a single-season school record. Carraher also set a school record when she hit eight three-pointers in a game against Muskingum.

The three-year letterwinner, who is also a two-time All-OAC tennis player, carries a 3.72 grade-point average as a psychology major. Like Pagenhardt, Carraher is also active in the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

The Lady Pioneers, under first-year Head Coach Jill Meiring, finished the season 5-19 overall and 2-16 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
