Pagenhardt moves up scoring list in Marietta's loss to John Carroll
Senior now fourth all-time in points

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio — Senior guard Justine Pagenhardt (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) scored her 1,286th career point and moved into fourth place on the Pioneer's all-time scoring list Saturday (Jan. 12) afternoon, but the Marietta College (3-10, 0-7 OAC) women's basketball team remained winless in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) after a 85-64 loss to host John Carroll University (8-6, 3-4 OAC).
Pagenhardt, who finished 9-of-19 from the field, scored a game-high 22 points, allowing her to surpass Libby McCandlish '01, who finished her career with 1,283 points, on Marietta's career scoring chart. The OAC's leading scorer also added a team-high eight rebounds.
Sophomore forward Jamie Beckett (Wooster/Triway) added 12 points and seven boards, while freshman Erin Nicola (Bellaire/St. John Central) pitched in with eight points off the bench, her best outing of the season.
Overall, Marietta finished 20-of-62 (.323) from the floor, including 4-of-19 (.211) from long range. The Pioneers added 20-of-32 (.625) from the line, turned the ball over on 15 occasions and out rebounded the Blue Streaks 44-39. John Carroll shot 36-of-70 (.514) on the afternoon, including 8-of-16 (.500) from deep. It added 5-of-8 (.625) from the charity stripe and had just 11 turnovers.
Lianna Jennings paced John Carroll with 21 points and seven assists in 23 minutes. Rachael Price added 15 points and seven assists, while Caitlin Sureck contributed 12 points and nine boards.
Marietta is back in action on Wednesday (Jan. 16) evening when the Lady Pioneers visit Alliance, Ohio, for a 7:30 p.m. match-up with Mount Union College.
