Marietta women fall to Capital in regular season finale
Pioneers open OAC Tournament play at Baldwin-Wallace

BEXLEY, Ohio —The Marietta College women’s tennis team lost 6-3 to host Capital University Saturday (April 19) afternoon in both team’s regular season finale. The loss drops Marietta’s record to 3-8 overall and 2-7 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). Capital improves to 6-7 overall and 4-5 in the OAC. 

Capital jumped out to a 6-0 lead before rain halted play with three matches still to be decided. After an extensive delay, the Crusaders eventually defaulted those matches to the Pioneers in order to end the match. Junior Amanda Carraher (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson), freshman Kristina Reed (Grove City) and sophomore Jen Wolfe (Ravenswood, W.Va.) earned victories at first, third and fifth singles, respectively.

The Lady Pioneers, who earned the eighth seed, are back in action when they take on top-seeded Baldwin-Wallace College Tuesday (April 22) afternoon at 3:30 p.m. in Berea.
