Lady Pioneers drop non-conference match to visiting Northwestern Ohio
Carraher and McKiernan win for sixth time at first doubles

MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College women’s tennis team suffered a 6-3 loss to visiting University of Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday (April 16) afternoon at the Beren Tennis Center. The Pioneers, who celebrated Senior Day for Stephanie Dowd (Willoughby/Willoughby South) before the match, fell to 3-6. The Lady Racers improved to 2-14.

Marietta junior Amanda Carraher (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson) remained undefeated at first singles with a 6-1, 6-0 victory. The win was Carraher’s 18th straight, dating back to 2007. Carraher also teamed up with sophomore Lauren McKiernan (Parkersburg, W.Va./South) to win 8-4 at first doubles. The duo improved to 6-3 together this season.

The Pioneers' final point came from freshman Kristina Reed (Grove City) when she won 6-1, 6-2 at third singles. Reed improved her record to 3-6 on the spring.

Marietta returns to action on Thursday (April 17) afternoon when it visiting University Heights, Ohio, for a 3:30 p.m. Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) match-up with John Carroll University.
