Marietta men fall to Waynesburg 5-4
Rockhold improves to 4-1 at singles

MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College men’s tennis team dropped a 5-4 non-conference decision to visiting Waynesburg (Pa.) University Tuesday (April 15) at the Beren Tennis Center. The loss drops the Pioneers' overall record to 1-9 overall, while the Yellow Jackets improved to 7-4.
Freshman Mike Carpenter (Parkersburg, W.Va.) recorded a victory at fourth singles with a 6-4, 4-6, 10-6 win. Senior Adam Rockhold (Olmsted Township/Olmsted Falls) won at sixth singles, 2-6, 6-4, 10-6, to improve to 4-1 on the season.
Carpenter teamed up with senior Ryan Callihan (Stout/Portsmouth West) to win at second doubles, 8-5. Rockhold and freshman Sam Vincent (Parkersburg, W.Va) also scored a victory at third doubles, 8-6. The duo is now 4-0 when playing doubles together.
The team is back in action Wednesday (April 16) afternoon when they play at Mount Union at 3:30 p.m.
