Carpenter wins fourth straight but Marietta men fall to Muskingum 7-2
Freshman improves to 4-2 at singles in 2008

MARIETTA, Ohio — Marietta College freshman Mike Carpenter (Parkersburg, W.Va.) stretched his singles win streak to four matches but the Pioneers tennis team could not post back-to-back victories as they fell 7-2 to visiting Muskingum College in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) match-up on Wednesday (April 2) at the Beren Tennis Center.
Carpenter improved to 4-2 overall and 3-1 at fourth singles with a 6-4, 6-4 victory. Senior Mark Briggs (Westerville/South) also won his third singles match for the second day in a row. He took the first set 6-1, fell 5-7 in the second set and then bounced back to win the third set 6-3.
Marietta will continue its busy week, which featured three home matches in five days, when John Carroll University visits the Beren Tennis Center for a 1 p.m. match on Saturday (April 5) afternoon.
