Lady Pioneers improve to 2-2 in OAC with 9-0 win over Muskies
Marietta women will look for third straight win

NEW CONCORD, Ohio — The Marietta College women's tennis team evened its record at 2-2 following a 9-0 victory at Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) rival Muskingum College Tuesday (April 1) afternoon. The Pioneers, who are also 2-2 in the OAC, have now won two straight matches, equaling their total from 2007. The Muskies fell to 0-5, 0-3 in league play.

Marietta dominated the doubles matches with Amanda Carraher (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson) and Lauren McKiernan (Parkersburg, W.Va./South) teaming up to win 8-0 at first doubles and Stephanie Dowd (Willoughby/Willoughby South) and Kristina Reed (Grove City) matching the result at third doubles. In addition, Jen Wolfe (Ravenswood, W.Va.) and Kainani Lovette (Salem) won 8-5 at second doubles.

The Pioneers also swept the singles matches. Carraher stretched her win streak to 13 matches with a 6-0, 6-0 victory. McKiernan earned the victory at second singles, 6-2, 6-2. Reed lost just won game at third singles, winning 6-1, 6-0. Lovette had the closest match; she won 6-4, 6-4 at fourth singles. Wolfe also lost just one game at fifth singles, cruising to the 6-0, 6-1 win. Dowd completed the scoring with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at sixth singles.

Marietta will return to action on April 10 when Otterbein College visits the Beren Tennis Center for a 3:30 p.m. OAC match.
