30 teams and dozens of sponsorships make 2008 Pioneer Golf Outing a success
Bradley, Crosby and Wharffs shoot 14-under par to claim top prize in Pioneer Club fundraiser
July 21, 2008
MARIETTA, Ohio — After a four-year hiatus, the Pioneer Golf Outing returned to the Marietta Country Club Monday (July 21) for the 23rd annual event. 120 golfers blanketed the par-70 course for a day of golf, food and fun in order to raise money for the Pioneer Club.
Thanks to the Marietta Country Club, sponsors Dixie Sporting Goods, the Comfort Inn Marietta and the River City Tavern and Grill, as well as the various hole sponsors, all of the proceeds will go directly into the Pioneer Club fund for the second straight year.
The foursome of Mark Bradley, John Crosby, Chris Wharff and John Wharff finished 14-under par, good enough for the one shot victory. Coming in second place at 13-under par was the team of Rob Beardmore, Dan Cawley, Josh Lane and George Threatt. Third place went to Shawn Joy, Allen Love, Tom Love and Lee Offenberger, who combined to shoot 12-under par.
Marietta College athletics would like to thank everyone that participated and looks forward to another successful outing in 2009. A date for next year’s outing has yet to be determined. Stay tuned for more information.
