Marietta men earn 3-1 road win at Penn State-Altoona
Delè Adedapo scores two goals in victory

Sept. 13, 2008
ALTOONA, Pa. — Junior defender Delè Adedapo (Gahanna/Bexley) scored two goals to lead the Marietta College men's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over host Penn State-Altoona Saturday (Sept. 13) afternoon. With the win, the Pioneers improved to 3-0-2, while the Lions fell to 0-5-2.

Marietta took a 1-0 advantage early when Adedapo sent a long free kick toward the goal in the 17th minute. The ball bounced over the PSU-Altoona goalkeeper's head and into the back of the net to give Adedapo his first goal of the season.

The Lions fought back to tie the game at 1-1 in the 49th minute. Graham Geremy received the ball from the corner and poked it past Pioneers' goalie Steve Hagenau (Clearwater, Fla./Central Catholic) for the goal.

Marietta regained the lead for good in the 69th minute. Junior Kyle Muth (Twinsburg) took control of a loose ball just outside the 18-yard box. He then passed it back to junior Deric McDonald (Vienna, W.Va./Parkersburg) who fired a shot off the top cross bar and into the net for his third goal of the fall.

Adedapo added an insurance goal off another free kick in the 79th minute. His second goal of the game came from 25-yards out and was deflected into the goal.

Altoona out-shot Marietta 13-12 overall but the Pioneers held a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal. Hagenau finished with two saves in the win.

The Pioneers' game slated for Sunday (Sept. 14) against Albright (Pa.) was canceled earlier this weekend. Marietta will return to the field on Wednesday (Sept. 17) evening when it visits Kenyon College for a 5:15 p.m. non-conference kickoff.
