Rockhold ends career with 28-point and 14-rebound performance in loss to Baldwin-Wallace
Yellow Jackets defeat Pioneers 86-60 in season finale

MARIETTA, Ohio — Senior Adam Rockhold (Olmsted Falls) saved his best for his last game as a Pioneer. He scored a career-high 28 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in Marietta College's 86-60 loss to visiting Baldwin-Wallace College Saturday (Feb. 23) afternoon on Fenton Court. The loss brings Marietta's final record to 6-19 overall and 2-16 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). Baldwin-Wallace improved to 11-14 and 8-10 in the OAC. It will now prepare to play in the upcoming eight-team OAC Tournament. The victory was a milestone for Baldwin-Wallace coach Steve Bankson, as he picked up his 700th career win. He is now the only collegiate coach in Ohio history to have 700 career wins.

Rockhold, honored before the game as the only senior on the Pioneers' squad, collected his eighth double double of the season and is the only player in the OAC to average a double double (13.4 points and 10.4 rebounds) in 2007-08. Freshman Nathan Edick (Westerville/Thomas Worthington) was the only other Pioneer to score in double figures; he netted 10 points. Edick set the school record for three-point field goal percentage in a season, shooting 63-of-115 (.548) from behind the arc. The Yellow Jackets held the Pioneers' leading scorer Isaiah Creasap (Wooster/Northwestern) to only seven points but he did manage to dish out six assists. Creasap finished his junior season as the Pioneers' leader in career three-pointers made with 217.

Andrew Bene paced the Yellow Jackets with 17 points and five rebounds. Kyle Brown and Dennis Santiago each scored 14 points. Santiago also collected six rebounds. Jake Cayton came off the bench to score 10 points in the win.

The Yellow Jackets started the game on a 7-0 run to quiet the Fenton Court crowd. The Pioneers battled back to cut the lead to four,15-11, with 12:09 remaining in the first half. The Yellow Jackets responded with a 22-5 run over the next seven minutes to lead 37-16. Marietta was able to get the lead down to 15, 39-24, at the half. Baldwin-Wallace came out in the second half, built its lead to as 29 and went on to win by 26, 86-60.

For the game, Marietta finished 24-of-60 (.400) from the field, 6-of-18 (.333) from three and 6-of-15 (.400) from the free throw line. Baldwin-Wallace finished 32-of-67 (.478) from the field, 8-of-19 (.421) from three and 14-of-18 (.778) from the free throw line. The Yellow Jackets held the edge on the boards 43-33 and committed only nine turnovers to Marietta's 11.
