Marietta men fall at home to Ohio Northern 80-56
Creasap only player in double figures for Pioneers

MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College men’s basketball dropped its latest Ohio Athletic Conference match-up to Ohio Northern, 80-56, Saturday (Jan. 26) afternoon at Fenton Court. The loss brings the Pioneer’s record to 5-12 overall and 1-9 in the OAC. The Polar Bears improve to 10-7 overall and 6-4 in the OAC with the road win.
Ohio Northern controlled the pace of the game early, as it built an early 10-point lead in the first 10 minutes of the first half. The Polar Bears did not let up and answered every Pioneer bucket with one of their own and led by 21, 45-24, at the half. The second half proved to be much of the same, as the Pioneers could not get the deficit below 20 points. Ohio Northern built its lead to as much as 27 and prevailed with the 80-56 win.
Junior Isaiah Creasap (Wooster Northwestern) led the Pioneers with 13 points and five assists. Senior Adam Rockhold (Olmsted Falls) scored nine points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Daun Lutes (New Matamoras/Frontier) and Blaine Carey (Akron/Barberton) each added six points for Marietta.
Ohio Northern had four players in double figures, led by Kyle Meyer with 17 points. Jake Cannon scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Kyle Gehle had 12 points and Loudan Hammersmith had 11 points.
Marietta finished 24-of-62 (.387) from the field, 6-of-19 (.316) from behind the arc and 2-of-4 (.500) from the free throw line. Ohio Northern finished 31-of-63 (.492) from the field, 8-of-16 (.500) from three and 10-of-14 (.714) from the free throw line. The Polar Bears held the edge on the boards, 41-33, and in turnovers with 14 to Marietta’s 17.
