MARIETTA, Ohio — The Greater Marietta Fall Baseball League opens its 25th season on Sept. 4. Registration is now open to all that are interested in joining the league.
The GMFBL is for men living in Washington and Wood Counties whose high school class has graduated. Applications are available at Zide's Sport Shop.
A mandatory meeting for all participants is at 5:15 p.m. Monday Aug. 25 in the PHED Classroom in Ban Johnson Arena on the campus of Marietta College. Applications must be turned in at this meeting. Tryouts are Aug. 26 to Aug. 31 at Don Schaly Stadium. Approximately 55-60 players are chosen in the league draft on Aug. 31.
Team Workouts are Sept. 1-3. A $25 player fee is due at the team’s first workout on Sept. 1 or Sept. 2.
League play begins Sept. 4 and concludes with a double elimination championship playoff tournament Sept. 24-27.
Each team plays 12 games plus the tournament. All games are at Schaly Stadium–5:15 p.m. weekdays, and 10 a.m./12:30 p.m./3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
Coaches for the teams are: Black’s Tree Service (Jeff Bradford & Dom Winters), Michael Bradley & Co. (Mike Beardmore & Mike Eisenberg), Peoples Bank (Terry Mullen & John Epperly), Zide's Sport Shop (Jim Thrash & Deron Alkire). Tom Siley will serve as league commissioner. |
